For the past few years we have seen Black Friday towards the end of November and the promise of offers that cannot be beaten but there are some startling facts about Black Friday that might surprise you.
Its not good for the environment - FOMO kicks in and mass produced items are sold to many people who don't even want them. 2 in 5 people now believe that they didn't really need the items they bought and almost half of UK shoppers say that they rarely or never use their Black Friday purchases.
Buying small is better for your local community - by shopping local and supporting small businesses you are also supporting the independents and not lining the pockets of those already rich. You get the human touch when you shop local and believe me when I tell you I certainly do a happy dance everytime someone buys something from me.
Colour Friday is so much better for you as a customer than Black Friday ever will be. The gifts you buy from independents are one-of-a-kind and meaningful. They are full of creativity and personality and usually tell a story.
Finally Colour Friday is what the spirit of Christmas is all about. Its about living mindfully by our values. It's about helping each other and connect us. It's about principles before profit. Colour Friday is about quality not quantity. It's about shopping local and supporting your local community.
The point of this blog post is not to make you buy jewellery from me (although - obviously that would be amazing ☺️) but to try to encourage you to think about what you are buying this Black Friday. I will be supporting Colour Friday and will be posting on my social media to encourage people to be thoughtful in their purchases this Christmas season.
