Christmas markets, sparkle and festive cheer

It’s that wonderful time of year again – the fairy lights are twinkling, the smell of mulled wine is in the air, and my workshop is a hive of activity as I finish off the last few pieces ready for the festive markets! I absolutely love this time of year – it’s busy, yes, but there’s something so magical about seeing people wandering around Christmas markets, wrapped up in scarves and gloves, clutching hot chocolates while they browse for special handmade gifts.

This Christmas, I’m thrilled to be taking Hare & Moon Jewellery on the road to some lovely local markets here in Kent – and I’d love for you to come along and say hello!

🎁 Chiddingstone Castle Christmas Market – Saturday 29th November, 10am–4pm

First up is one of my absolute favourite events of the season – the Chiddingstone Castle Christmas Fair. It’s happening on Saturday 29th November from 10am to 4pm, and it’s such a gorgeous setting for a festive day out.

The market takes place both inside the castle itself and in a heated marquee on the grounds, so even if the weather is cold or wet, you’ll be toasty and warm while you shop. With over 60 stalls selling all kinds of wonderful gifts, decorations, treats, and handmade crafts, it’s the perfect place to find something unique and support local makers.

I’ll be there with my full range of Hare & Moon Jewellery — from delicate silver necklaces and everyday earrings to my nature-themed pieces that make perfect Christmas presents. Whether you’re shopping for someone special or treating yourself (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t deserve a little sparkle this time of year?), I’d love to help you find the perfect piece.

Tickets for Chiddingstone Castle’s market are available in advance at £8 for adults and £4 for children, and you can buy them here. The price is slifghtlyhigher on the day. There’s parking available on-site for a small fee, and the address is: Hill Hoath Road, Chiddingstone, Nr Tonbridge, Kent, TN8 7AD.

It’s such a beautiful venue – a real fairytale castle setting that feels extra magical at Christmas time.

🌟 Whitstable Umbrella Centre – Sunday 30th November, 10am–3pm

The festive fun continues the very next day when I’ll be heading to Whitstable Umbrella Centre for their Christmas Market on Sunday 30th November from 10am to 3pm.

This is a smaller, more intimate market with around 25 stalls, all selling gorgeous handmade, artisan goods. It’s the perfect spot if you love that community feel – there’s always such a lovely buzz, with local makers, crafters, and bakers coming together under one roof.

Even better? Entry is completely free! So you can pop in, browse, and maybe tick off a few gifts on your Christmas list without spending a penny on the door.

I always find Whitstable markets to be such friendly events – people chat, share recommendations, and genuinely enjoy discovering new local creators. If you’re nearby, do come along. I’ll have plenty of jewellery pieces ready to gift (or to wear to your Christmas parties!) and I’d love to meet some of you in person.

🎄 One More Before Christmas – Whitstable Umbrella Centre, Sunday 21st December, 10am–4pm

If you can’t make it to either of the November markets, don’t worry – I’ve got one last festive stop before Christmas!

I’ll be back at the Whitstable Umbrella Centre again on Sunday 21st December, this time from 10am to 4pm, for their final Christmas event of the season.

This is the perfect opportunity for any last-minute shoppers who still need a few special gifts before the big day. I’ll have plenty of ready-to-go jewellery pieces beautifully packaged and ready to slip under the tree. It’s also a lovely excuse to take a breather from the Christmas rush and spend a few hours soaking up the festive atmosphere while supporting small, local businesses.

💫 Shop Local This Christmas

I know how easy it is to get swept up in the convenience of online shopping and big retailers this time of year, but there’s truly something special about buying directly from local makers. Every single sale, even the smallest one, means the world to small creative businesses like mine. It’s not just about the transaction – it’s about the connection, the appreciation for craftsmanship, and knowing your gift has a story behind it.

When you buy handmade jewellery, you’re not just giving a pretty accessory – you’re giving something that’s been designed and crafted with care, attention, and love. I pour so much of myself into each piece I make, from the initial sketch to the final polish, and seeing them find new homes at these markets always makes my heart happy.

So if you’re planning a festive day out, please pop one (or all!) of these dates in your diary:

Come along, browse, chat, and soak up the Christmas spirit. Bring your friends and family, grab a mince pie, and let’s make this holiday season sparkle together.

Let’s make this Christmas a celebration of community, creativity, and connection – because when you shop small, you make a big difference. 💖

TTFN ❤️
