June 5th is World Environment Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about pressing environmental issues. This year, the focus is on beating plastic pollution—a cause that deeply resonates with me at Hare and Moon Jewellery.

Our Commitment to Reducing Plastic Use
I want to take a moment to share what I do to minimize plastic use in my business. At Hare and Moon Jewellery, all of my packaging is 100% plastic-free and recyclable. I'm proud of this initiative, and I continuously seek ways to improve my environmental practices.
Currently, the only plastic present in my business is found in the padded envelopes used to ship orders. To combat this, I reuse any envelopes that arrive with jewellery supplies. This helps reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in landfills. I continue this practice until the envelopes are no longer usable.
Sustainable Materials Used in Our Jewellery
Did you also know that all of the silver I use is recycled?
Silver metal clay is an eco-friendly material made from reclaimed silver particles from various industries, including the photography sector. These particles are mixed with an organic binder and a small amount of water. When fired, the binder burns off, leaving behind 99.9% fine silver.
My sterling silver mainly comes from a single supplier who provides recycled silver. If you’re interested in learning more, I’m always happy to share my suppliers’ details. You can then check their credentials for yourself.
Eco-Friendly Practices for a Sustainable Future
If the environment is a priority for you, I hope this information reassures you that it is equally important to me. I constantly strive to make my business as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible. There are various ways you can also contribute to this cause.
Reducing Single-Use Plastics
Every small effort counts when it comes to reducing plastic pollution. Here are some steps you can take at home:
Carry reusable bags. Replace plastic bags with durable fabric bags.
Choose glass or metal containers. Store food and drinks in reusable containers.
Opt for bar soap over liquid soap. This reduces plastic packaging.
Use a reusable water bottle. This helps avoid single-use plastic bottles.
Raising Awareness
Awareness is key in the fight against plastic pollution. Share your knowledge with friends and family. Encourage others to join in on the movement against plastic waste. The more voices we have, the louder we become.
Let's Connect
If you wish to discuss any environmental concerns further, please don't hesitate to reach out. I am always more than happy to chat about sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
Conclusion
Together, we can work towards a cleaner and more sustainable planet. As individuals, we have the power to make significant changes. Let's take this opportunity to beat plastic pollution, one step at a time.
Till next time,
