World Environment Day 2025

June 5th is World Environment Day and this year has been focused on beating plastic pollution.

I wanted to spend 5 mins telling you what I do, here at Hare and Moon Jewellery, to try to reduce my plastic use.

All of my packaging is plastic free and is also recycleable.

Currently the only plastic I am aware of in my business is the plastic that is in the padded envelopes I use to post out orders. As much as I can I reuse envelopes that come to me with jewellery supplies in so I continue try to reduce how much plastic finds it way into landfill and reuse these until they are pretty much useless.

Did you also know that all of the silver I use is recycled?

Silver metal clay is made from silver particles reclaimed from industry such as the photograpy industry and mixed with an organic binder and a little water. When fired this binder burns off and you are left with 99.9% fine silver.

My sterling silver predominantly comes from one supplier and they supply recycled silver. If you want to discuss this further with me I am always happy to share my suppliers with you so you can check their credentials for yourself.
